Meander is a locally owned Montana guide service offering small-group river trips and custom outdoor experiences built around curiosity, connection, and time well spent outside. We believe in taking the time to let the natural world reveal its wonders and moving at a pace that allows us to be truly present in the places, stories, wildlife, and people around us.

Every trip starts with a conversation

Every trip we run is a little different—shaped by the river, the season, and the people on it. Because of that, we handle all bookings personally by phone or email. It gives us the chance to get to know what you’re looking for and make sure the experience is the right fit from the start.

We are now taking inquiries for our 2027 season. No payment is required yet, we’re starting conversations, helping guests plan ahead, and building the right trip fit before formal reservations open.

Blackfoot River Day Trip

A full day on the Blackfoot River at a pace that leaves room to notice more. Wildlife, quiet stretches, and time to explore make this more than just a float—it’s a deeper experience of the river.

Upper Missouri River Breaks Expeditions

Multi-day canoe expeditions through the remote White Cliffs region of the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument. These small-group journeys combine wilderness camping, wildlife observation, geology, river history, and thoughtful expedition travel through one of Montana’s most iconic landscapes.

Led by wildlife biologists, river ecologists, and experienced expedition guides.

Custom days built around what you’re curious about—birding, hiking, rockhounding, or simply being outside. Each trip is shaped around your interests and the landscape

Why Meander?

Our goal is simple: you leave with a deeper understanding of the landscape, a renewed sense of curiosity, and the feeling that you experienced something rare—not just something you checked off a list.

A man with a beard wearing a tan cap, red jacket, and gloves stands on a wooden bridge over a river in a forest area with green and brown trees and moss.

Our trips are led by professional wildlife biologists and river specialists who bring the landscape to life. From bird behavior to river dynamics to Montana’s changing ecosystems, you’ll gain insights most visitors never get access to.

Scenic landscape of rolling green hills and mountains with patches of snow, under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

We keep our trips small and personal so every guest has room to connect—with the river, the landscape, and each other. This isn’t a conveyor-belt tour. It’s your time, done right.

We move at the pace that the place deserves. That might mean stopping to watch a hawk ride a thermal, pulling over to explore a stretch of riverbank, or simply floating in silence. The best moments aren’t scheduled—they’re noticed.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced tour, we’re probably not your best fit. If you want something more meaningful, you’re in the right place!
